HamletScenens CEO Lars Romann Engel has chosen this unique production, as this summer’s play at Kronborg castle and the audience can already now start looking forward to a evening with one of the worlds greatest theatre houses, Schaubühne Berlin and there Hamlet production . This most-quoted of plays is pushed to the extreme in this audacious production. Director Thomas Ostermeier´s production is superb on every level, from conception to execution. Marius Von Mayenburg has made a whole new translation of Hamlet. With heavily cuts and by using daily expression this is a rebirthing of a classic, an entirely new work. A cast of six actors play all the characters, constantly changing roles. They do it agile and capable with endless surprises, familiar scenes pulse with new and unexpected meaning. Forget everything about Shakespeare’s sweet prince. Hamlet is rebellious and dynamic, the first Hamlet that fights for his right not to fight. Together with music, song and video this is a whole new Hamlet.
